Biography
Håkon Storm-Mathisen (born 1967, Oslo). Guitarist, educated at the Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen. Graduated in 1991, with a special subject of writing for big band, with the highest degrees ever accomplished by a student from the Rhythmic conservatory at that time. Supervision by Ole Kock-Hansen ( The Danish Radio Jazz orchestra ), Butch Lacy, Bob Rockwell, Atilla Engin, Ed Thigpen, Jørgen Emborg, Staffan William-Olsson ( The Real Thing ), and others.
Freelance: Håkon Storm has co-operated with some of the best and most respected musicians in Norway; Tore Brunborg, Sidsel Endresen, Per Jørgensen, De Press, Vidar Johansen, Søyr , etc. He also plays with younger talents, in his trio with Finn Guttormsen and Jarle Vespestad (both from Farmer´s Market ), and with the singers Solveig Slettahjell and Beate Slettevold Lech ( Beady Belle ). Håkon has performed in all important clubs and festivals in Norway, including Kongsberg Jazz Festival , Oslo Jazz Festival , Nattjazz , and Dølajazz .
He composes for, and regularly performs with, his own trio, quartet, and quintet.

Soloist, conductor, and composer for big bands; Bergen Big Band , Oslo Workshop Big Band , Prime Time Orchestra . Håkon Storm was invited to Japan in November 2003, to perform his music with several Japanese big bands, and smaller combos.
Teaching: Guitar, ensemble, rhythmic training, composition/ theory, ear training, and improvisation classes at The Norwegian State Academy of Music since 1991. Guest teaching at conservatories in den Haag and Amsterdam, Trondheim, and Tokyo ( Kunitachi Music Academy ).
Håkon Storm recently received the Norwegian state grant for young artists (2000,2001), to play the guitar and compose for larger jazz ensembles.

In august 2002, the Norwegian State Broadcasting (NRK) did a portrait program of Håkon Storm and fellow guitarist Jacob Young for national radio. The duo has been very successfull, and has given performances for the Norwegian Council of foreign affairs, the Guitar Art festival in Belgrade , Serbia, a.o.
